Bomb blast kills 6 in North Afghanistan

A roadside bomb went off near a bus which carried government employees, during rush hour, killing six people on Tuesday, a Taliban official said.

Hindustan Times reported that Mohammad Asif Waziri, the Taliban-appointed spokesman for the police chief in Balkh province, said the bombing in Mazar-e Sharif, the provincial capital, also wounded seven people.

The bomb was planted in a cart by the side of the road, and it detonated when a bus belonging to the Hiaratan Gas and Petroleum Department was taking the company’s employees to work.

In another blast, which occurred in the capital of eastern Nangarhar province, Jalalabad, at least six people were wounded in a bomb explosion at the money exchange market, according to a Taliban-appointed spokesperson for the provincial police chief.

The spokesperson said that the bomb was planted near the market and that all the wounded are in stable condition according to the hospital reports.

He added that investigations are underway.

Pictures on social media from the place of the explosion in Balkh, show a damaged bus, along with many carts and fruit stalls lying scattered by the road after the explosion.
