British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on Saturday reaffirmed that the United Kingdom will stand with Ukraine till its ultimate victory, during a visit to Ukraine’s capital Kyiv.
In a press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Kyiv, Sunak said “I am here today to say that the UK will continue to stand with you… until Ukraine has won the peace and security it needs and deserves,” Hindustan Times reported.
The British PM announced an air defence package worth £50 million, according to the statement released by 10 Downing Street. The package would include “120 aircraft guns, radars, and anti-drone equipment,” the British PM said.
This is the first visit of the new British Prime Minister to Ukraine. Britain has been a reliable and trustworthy partner for Ukraine since the war started in February. Sunak said, “It is deeply humbling to be with you in your country today. The courage of the Ukrainian people is an inspiration to the world,” as reported by the Hindustan Times.”
In years to come we’ll tell our grandchildren of your story, how proud and sovereign people stood up in the face of an appalling onslaught, how you fought, how you sacrificed, how you prevailed,” Sunak added.
