For the T20 World Cup in Australia the following month, England’s men’s coaching staff has been expanded to include Michael Hussey and David Saker.
Matthew Mott, England’s white-ball head coach, has enlisted Hussey, a former Australia international who currently serves as the batting coach for Chennai Super Kings, and Saker, a fellow Australian who served as England’s Test bowling coach from 2010 to 2015, to add local knowledge to the team’s preparations ahead of the world Cup .
Saker, who played a significant role in England’s successful 2010–11 Ashes tour, will meet up with the team in Pakistan prior to the seven-match T20I series, which gets underway in Karachi next week. Hussey, on the other hand, will go with the team to Australia in October when England is slated to play three Twenty20 Internationals against the host country before their first World Cup match against Afghanistan on October 22.
The two will strengthen the present coaching staff, which now includes Mott and two aides in Carl Hopkinson and Richard Dawson. Jos Buttler will lead England on its first tour to Pakistan since 2005. However, while Buttler recovers from a calf injury, Moeen Ali is anticipated to captain the team for the first matches in Karachi.
